First spotted in beta back in June, it seems that WhatsApp is now finally rolling out the option for users to send photos to others in high quality. It was revealed by none other than the Meta CEO himself, Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook, with Meta also noting that support for HD videos will be coming soon.

If you don’t have the option for HD photos on your smartphone yet, don’t fret. WhatsApp is rolling out the feature now to its users around the world over the next few weeks, and it looks like for now Android users will be getting it first. In the SoyaCincau office, a few of us using Android devices are now seeing the option to send photos in HD, while the iPhone users still don’t have it just yet even though the app has been updated.

As for those of you who do have the feature already, here’s how you send a picture to others in HD. You can open up your chat with the person you want to send the picture to, click on the attachment option and select Photos & Videos. There, pick the image you want to send to the other person as usual, but before you send it, you’ll find the ‘HD’ toggle on the top as one of the editing options. Tap on it, and you will then get the option to send in either HD or standard quality, along with the resolutions the photo will be in.
