Ten people perished in the plane crash at Elmina Shah Alam this afternoon. One of them is Johari Harun, the assemblyman of Pelangai in Pahang who flew in the private plane with five other passengers and two crew members.
This was confirmed by the Pahang state assembly speaker, Sharkar Shamsudin through a statement on Facebook. Other politicians that have also confirmed the news through social media include Bentong’s assemblywoman Yong Syefura and the Communication Director of UMNO, Lokman Adam.
Johan was chosen as the Pelangai assemblyman with a comfortable margin of over 4,000 votes during the 15th General Election (PRU15) last year. Aside from representing Pelangai in the Pahang State Legislative Assembly, he was also the current state exco member that is responsible for the local government, housing, environment, and green energy.
Operated by Jet Valet Sdn Bhd, the aircraft which was a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) with a registration number N28JV began its journey in Langkawi at 2:08 PM. According to the statement from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, the flight was given clearance to land by the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower at 2:48 PM.
The flight didn’t make it to the Subang Airport though and crashed at Elmina mere minutes later. Aside from the flight passengers and crew members, one motorcyclist and one car driver also perished in the incident.
