The exclusive distributor of Neta in Malaysia, Intro Synergy has denied that the price of Neta V has been reduced to under RM80,000. In the same statement which was published on Neta Auto Malaysia’s Facebook page, the company has also confirmed that it will announce a new price tag for the EV next month.
When Neta V made its official debut in our market during the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 a few months ago, the EV comes with an on-the-road (OTR) price tag of RM99,800 which is something that the brand has maintained on Neta Malaysia’s website until today. At the event, a rebate of RM10,000 was also given to the first 100 adopters of the EV which helped reduced the price to RM89,800.
Fast forward to last weekend, Facebook user Nicholas Koo shared a set of photos on the Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owners Club (MyEVOC) group which showed a much lower price tag of RM79,800 OTR. The new reduced OTR price for the Neta V was also confirmed based on photos shared by several legitimate sources.
One of them was a high-resolution photo that was posted on Sutera Mall’s own Facebook page which clearly depicted the new price tag. The second proof comes in the form of the promotional web banner from a well-known dealership that is based in Johor although this banner has since been deleted.
Meanwhile, Intro Synergy has also said in today’s statement that it “will comply with all the policies that have been set” which seemed like a reference to the RM100,000 base price requirement that was set by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry as part of its Franchise AP policy for fully imported EVs.
The company also said it will announce the finalised pricing for Neta V in Malaysia together with “attractive package offers”. It made us wonder if one of the “offer” will come in the form of an accessory package as there were a set of pictures on Neta Auto Malaysia’s Facebook page that showed the EV with an aftermarket body kit.
Not only that, the display car at Sutera Mall has the same body kit as well. After a bit of Internet sleuthing, we learned that the body kit was made by S-Sporty of Thailand although the installation was done by the brand’s local distributor, AJ 4×4.
Of course, it is also possible that the “attractive package offers” could be a price rebate which we believe is a move that can make Neta V more attractive to customers. This is especially given that the BYD Dolphin has been dominating the conversation within the local EV space since its arrival in Malaysia last month.
