Black Shark has been pretty quiet this year, with its last major launch in Malaysia over a year now with the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro gaming smartphones. However, the brand is back with a slew of new products, albeit in a product category you might not typically associate with Black Shark: smartwatches.
There are three new smartwatches from the brand, namely the Black Shark GT, the Black Shark GT Neo and the Black Shark S1. Malaysia is actually one of the earliest markets to get these new wearables, even earlier than its home market of China. Available for purchase already from the official Black Shark store on Shopee as well as their retail partners nationwide, here’s how much the three devices will cost:
As part of its launch promo, Black Shark is giving the Black Shark GT Neo a discount of RM50 on 17 and 18 August, meaning that on those two days you’ll be bale to get the GT Neo on their Shopee store for just RM99. Black Shark will also be showing off their new wearables with a stand at the AniMangaki 2023 convention from 25 to 27 August 2023 at the Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre.
Sitting at the top of the product stack is the Black Shark S1. It features a round 1.43-inch AMOLED display pushing a 466 x 466p resolution for a 326ppi pixel density, and offers an up to 10-day battery life thanks to its 330mAh battery, which you can stretch to up to 20 days of use if you switch it to Standby mode. It has ENC Bluetooth call functionality too for taking calls on the go.
You’ll also find 24-hour health monitoring features such as a heart rate tracker, a blood oxygen level monitor as well as tools for assessing your stress levels, your sleep and to track your periods. There’s in-app GPS functionality too along with over 100 sports modes too. There’ an IP68 dust and water resistance rating here too so you’ll be able to use it outdoors without worrying about sweat and rain.
While it’s not the top smartwatch offered by Black Shark, the Black Shark GT is still a pretty solid wearable for its price, offering a 1.78-inch rectangular AMOLED display with a 369 x 448p resolution at the same 326ppi pixel density as its more expensive cousin. It does have a smaller battery though at 270mAh, though Black Shark still says it’ll be good for up to 10 days of use on a single charge.
Other than that, you’ll find mostly the same features as that on the Black Shark S1, such as integrated GPS navigation, ENC Bluetooth calling, over 100 sports modes to choose from, an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, heart rate sensors, blood oxygen level monitors, sleep and stress meters and period tracking.
Lastly we have the Black Shark GT Neo, which has the largest display of the bunch, coming in at 2.02-inches. However, it is not an AMOLED display, instead packing a TFT LCD panel pushing a 240 x 296p resolution for a slightly lower 189ppi pixel density. It also packs a 270mAh battery though Black Shark says it’ll only last you for up to seven days of use on a single charge.
That being said, you’re still getting the same feature set as the others, such as ENC Bluetooth calling, 100 sports modes to pick from, in-build GPS tracking, an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and various health monitoring sensors like heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level measurement, sleep and stress trackers along with period trackers.
