If you’re driving your electric vehicle (EV) to Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan, you can now get a quick top-up thanks to ChargEV’s 80kW DC Charger. The new DC Charger is located right in front of Starbucks Port Dickson Drive-Thru at PD Waterfront and it is also the first DC Fast charger at the beach resort town.
This is quite a prime location as it is within the vicinity of Starbucks, McDonald’s, TF Value-Mart and D’Wharf Hotel. Similar to other new DC Chargers deployed by ChargEV, the 80kW DC Charger at Port Dickson is priced at RM1.20 per kWh. This means a quick 20kWh top-up which is enough to drive your EV back to Kuala Lumpur would cost RM24.
The charger has two CCS2 nozzles which can push a maximum of up to 80kW each. From the looks of it, this charger is set for dynamic load sharing and this means if two cars are plugged in, each vehicle will probably get a maximum of 40kW each.
To activate the charger, you’ll need to use the ChargEV app which is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. In case you missed it, ChargEV alongside Gentari and JomCharge have recently enabled EV roaming, however, this charging location is still not visible yet on Gentari and JomCharge apps.
Based on the PlugShare listing, the DC charger at Starbucks Port Dickson Waterfront has been up and running since last month and several EV owners were able to charge for free before this location was announced.
Besides this DC Charger, ChargEV also has three 22kW AC chargers at D’Wharf Hotel & Serviced Residence which are priced at RM2.00 per 10 minutes. If you do the math, that’s approximately RM1.09 per kWh if your vehicle can accept 11kW on AC or about RM1.72 per kWh if your EV (such as Ora Good Cat, BYD Atto 3, Dolphin) can only accept a maximum rate of 7kW on AC.
