BYD Dolphin Malaysia: RM1,300 free charging credit offer extended until 6 August

As part of the BYD Dolphin launch in Malaysia last week, Sime Darby Beyond Auto has offered free charging credit worth RM1,300 to the first 800 customers that booked the new fully electric hatchback. The exclusive distributor for BYD vehicles in Malaysia has since extended the offer until this coming Sunday, 6 August.

This was confirmed by Calvin Sze-Tho, the Head of Sales Distribution Head Office at Sime Darby Beyond Auto during a media session yesterday. The company decided to extend the promotion despite the number of customers having “over exceeded” its expectations, according to the executive.

Under this deal, they are free to choose whether to have the RM1,300 credit with access to EV chargers under Yinson GreenTech’s ChargEV or Petronas green energy subsidiary Gentari. Since both of these Charge Point Operators (CPOs) together with EV Connection (EVC) have already formed a roaming partnership, all of their chargers can be accessed through the same app.

The free charging credits offer as displayed at ChargEV’s booth in Sime Darby Motors Autofest.

So, regardless of the CPO that the customer will choose for this BYD Dolphin promotion, they will be able to utilise around 60% of the public EV chargers in the country through the ChargEV app or Setel super app.

Meanwhile, Calvin said that there is no limit on the number of customers this time around although the offer will only last until this Sunday, 6 August. Customers can get their hands on the free charging credit promotion at the ongoing Sime Darby Motors Autofest in Desa ParkCity as well as BYD dealerships throughout Malaysia.
