Vivo has launched another new smartphone in Malaysia, the Vivo Y78 5G. Positioned as a midrange device, it features a premium look and feel to it, mainly thanks to its large AMOLED display with curved edges.
Only one version of the Vivo Y78 5G will be available in Malaysia with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM1,399. Pre-orders have already begun and will last till 4th August with full availability starting on 5th August. You’ll be able to find it on the Vivo Malaysia online store as well as the official Vivo store on Lazada and Shopee.
However, from now till 11 September, anyone who buys the Vivo Y78 5G will be able to get free gifts worth up to RM599 which include a free pair of true wireless earbuds, a screen protector and 180 days of Vivo Care extended warranty. You’ll also get three months of VIU Premium for free with your new phone.
Looking at the Vivo Y78 5G from the front, it’s certainly an impressive looking device given its position as a midrange smartphone. It packs a large 6.78-inch, ‘3D curved’ OLED display, pushing a 120Hz refresh rate with full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and a peak brightness of 1300nits.
Under the hood you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 system-on-chip, mated to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It runs Android 13 out of the box, skinned with FuntouchOS 13 over it.
In the camera department meanwhile is a triple rear camera setup housing a main 64MP, f/1.79 main shooter that Vivo claims is an ‘anti-shake’ camera thanks to it coming with optical image stabilisation. That gets flanked by a pair of 2MP, f/2.4 cameras for portrait and macro. Up front you’ll find a 16MP, f/2.0 selfie camera in a punch hole cutout.
Other features of note include a 5,000mAh batter with 44W Vivo FlashCharge fast charging. Available in Flare Black and Dreamy Gold, the Vivo Y78 5G measures 7.89mm thick and weighs 177g, and has support for 5G, WiFi 5, NFC and Bluetooth 5.1.
