Gentari now offers EV home charging solutions, price starts from RM3,500 with installation

Gentari has expanded its footprint in the local EV industry by offering home charging solutions. Prior to this, the Petronas green energy subsidiary is primarily focused on public charging stations and has just launched the Gentari Membership Plan which provides 50% discounts on all chargers within its network.

In collaboration with its long-time partner EV Connection, the Gentari home charging solutions currently include ABB Terra AC and Vestel EVC04. Despite the differences in physical designs, both chargers can provide up to 7.4kW output for a single-phase electrical system or up to 22kW with a three-phase system.

Both wall boxes are IP54-rated although ABB’s offering is slightly more durable since it has a higher IK impact resistance rating than the Vestel.

Furthermore, ABB Terra AC can be accessed through a mobile app and web portal. This feature is absent from the Vestel EVC04 even though it still has online connectivity. Nevertheless, Gentari noted that customers should be able to charge their EVs using these home AC chargers simply by plugging the cable.

Speaking about charging cable, the variants that Gentari will provide to customers come standard with a 5-meter Type 2 cable.  Regardless of whether a customer prefers the ABB Terra AC or Vestel EVC04, these chargers are covered by a 2-year warranty and there is also another separate 1-year warranty for all the works that have been done during installation.

As for pricing, we were told that the price ranges from RM3,500 to RM5,000 inclusive of basic installation. Gentari is currently in the midst of establishing collaborations with EV manufacturers to offer its home charging package to EV owners and among the first partner that it has signed up is Lotus Cars Malaysia.
