During the recent WWDC 2023 event, Apple showcased their new MacBook Air 15, a larger version of their most popular laptop, and even called it the world’s best 15-inch laptop out there. Exactly a month since its global debut though, Apple has now made it available for purchase in Malaysia from their website, with them shipping it out to you in one to three business days.
As for how much it’ll cost you, the MacBook Air 15 starts from RM6,199 onwards for the base model which packs an Apple M2 with 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. Curiously, you can also get the option with a 512GB SSD for RM6,999 and Apple Malaysia will ship them out in one business day. Make any configuration changes though—such as upgrade the RAM to 16GB—and the estimate becomes one to three business days to ship out. That upgrade by the way will cost you RM800 extra too.
If you’re looking at an absolutely maxed out MacBook Air 15 with 24GB of memory and a 2TB SSD, then you’ll be looking at a RM10,999 price tag. Of course, if you don’t need the larger display, the MacBook Air 13 from last year has gotten a price reduction, starting at just RM5,199 now.
For a quick recap, the MacBook Air 15 features a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2880 x 1864p resolution, giving it a pixel density of 224ppi, matching the smaller MacBook Air. It also comes with similar specs to the MacBook Air 13, with a max brightness of 500nits, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. The extra size comes with extra heft too, with the MacBook Air 15 weighing 1.51kg—nearly 300g more than the MacBook Air 13.
Under the hood is the Apple M2 processor, with 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, along with support for up to 24GB of memory, up to 2TB of SSD storage and MacOS Ventura out of the box. The MacBook Air 15 does have a larger 66.5Wh battery too, though Apple rates it for a similar 18 hours of playback as the smaller MacBook Air. There is better audio though, with a new six-speaker sound system with force cancelling woofers. You can learn more about the new MacBook Air 15 here.
