Apart from the nearly-flagship Reno 10 Pro+, Oppo has also just launched the non-Plus variant in Malaysia, the Reno 10 Pro. It shares some similarities with its higher end cousin, but also gets a number of downgrades in comparison.
The Oppo Reno 10 Pro will be available in just one configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Available for pre-order from now till the 14th of July, the Reno 10 Pro is priced at RM2,199 and those who do pre-order will get a number of freebies worth up to RM506, which include a pair of Oppo Enco Buds 2 worth RM129, a Bluetooth speaker worth RM129 and free Oppo Care.
At first glance, the Oppo Reno 10 Pro does look a fair bit like its ‘Plus’ sibling, with a large 6.7-inch, 3D curved AMOLED display that pushes an FHD+ resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, a peak brightness of 950nits and a layer of AGC DT-Star 2 glass over it.
However, once you take a close look at the spec sheet, it does become a little more obvious why it’s over a thousand ringgit cheaper than the Reno 10 Pro+. For starters, the Reno 10 Pro comes with the two-year old Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, mated to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It runs Android 13 out of the box, skinned with ColorOS 13.1 over it.
It’s in the camera department though where the Reno 10 Pro has the biggest downgrade compared to the Reno 10 Pro+. Gone is the 64MP periscope telephoto shooter, instead replaced with a more conventional 32MP, f/2.0 telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, alongside a 50MP, f/1.8 main camera and an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide lens. In front meanwhile is a 32MP, f/2.4 camera that takes cares of selfies.
Elsewhere, the Reno 10 Pro has a 4,600mAh battery keeping the lights on with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, down from the 100W found on the Reno 10 Pro+. Incidentally, it loses out on stereo speakers, with the Reno 10 Pro coming with a mono speaker instead. There’s also an under display fingerprint sensor and support for Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6, NFC and 5G wireless connectivity. The Reno 10 Pro will be available in Silvery Grey and Glossy Purple.
