Unifi has announced a partnership with Netflix that will see the streaming platform coming to the telco’s Unifi TV service. from 23 June onwards, Unifi customers will be able to access Netflix on Unifi TV by subscribing to their new packages and getting the Netflix add-on.
According to Unifi, Unifi TV subscribers will first have to upgrade their existing subscription to either the Ultimate Max Pack for RM89.90 a month or the Ultimate Plus Pack for RM69.90 a month. This gets you access to all of their Unifi TV channels, the Unifi TV app, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, beIN Sports Connect, SPOTV NOW, BBC Player, Siar and Lionsgate Play for Ultimate Plus subscribers, while the Ultimate Max also offers Viu and iQiyi.
However, Netflix will not be included in the Unifi TV Ruby Plus Pack, Varnam Plus Pack, Aneka Plus Pack or the Ultimate pack. As such, if you’re already on one of these older Unifi TV packages, you won’t get Netflix bundled but those on the Ultimate pack can still add it to your subscription for RM9.90 per month, essentially turning it to the Ultimate Plus pack. This promotional price will start from 23 June onwards and will last for three months.
It’s worth pointing out that the Ultimate Plus pack is basically the Ultimate Pack with the RM9.90 cost of Netflix added on, while Ultimate Max is just Ultimate Plus with Viu and iQiyi added on too. That being said, the RM9.90 monthly fee is a promotional price for now, and Unifi has yet to reveal the full price of Netflix access as an add on package. Ultimate Plus users will get Netflix Basic (720p streaming, usually priced at RM28/month), while Ultimate Max users will get Netflix Standard (1080p streaming, usually priced at RM45/month).
“The addition of Netflix opens up a host of popular and diverse entertainment selections to our lifestyle services, and to celebrate this partnership we will provide customers one of the best bundle deals through Unifi’s all-in-one subscription.
This special three-month promotion is our way of sharing this latest milestone with our customers, with Netflix taking us to the next stage of our home and on-the-go entertainment offerings,” – Anand Vijayan, TM Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President of Unifi
Those of you keen to sign up for one of the new plans or just wish to add Netflix to your current package can do so by heading down to your local Unifi Store or by calling 100. This deal might be of particular interests to you Netflix users that have found yourselves locked out of your account due to their new crackdown on password sharing. As such, instead of paying the extra RM13 for an extra member slot on an existing account, you can opt to pay RM9.90 for your own Netflix account on Unifi TV instead if you’re already a user.
