#BestPhonesForever: Google’s new miniseries has the Pixel teasing the iPhone

Android vs iPhone has been one of the biggest debates among tech enthusiasts for the better part of the last two decades now. But what happens when the two phones stop being rivals and start being friends? You get #BestPhonesForever, a new miniseries of ads from Google that imagines the Pixel 7 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro as best friends.

In just the first episode for instance, we see the Pixel 7 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro standing by what appears to be the Grand Canyon, taking in the view when suddenly, the iPhone felt the urge to tell Pixel some stuff. Lamenting its age, the iPhone remembers being as young as the Pixel, and remembers being paraded around by owners to their friends. But not anymore as its photos are no longer as sharp as the Pixel’s, and that it lacks features like 30x zoom and AI integration. The iPhone wouldn’t even finish complaining as it runs out of battery before long.

And while the iPhone enters this melancholic stage, the Pixel tries to, um, help lighten the mood, saying that the iPhone is still legendary, and that he can help fix their photos using the Pixel’s Photo Unblur feature and won’t tell anyone else. Needless to say, it’s a funny way to banter around with Apple while also promoting their own Pixel lineup of smartphones.

There’s a total of five episodes in this miniseries, each of them just over a minute long. We won’t spoil it all for you, but basically they all follow the same idea of highlighting one of the Pixel’s cool features while poking fun at the iPhone too. Episode two covers the topic of astrophotography, while episode three sees the iPhone complaining about public WiFi security. Episode four meanwhile sees the two phones touch backs after the iPhone runs out of battery (again), and in the finally we even get a surprise cameo from the Pixel Fold.

It’s worth checking out even if it’s only for a giggle and not because you’d actually buy the Pixel—you can’t anyway as it’s not officially available in Malaysia, though grey market imports certainly exist. You can click here to head over to YouTube for the full playlist.
