June is an interesting time for those who are looking to get their hands on an electric vehicle from BMW Malaysia. We have previously noted that the company is now offering one year of free charging for BMW iX to celebrate BMW’s 20th anniversary in our market but as it turns out, the same promo is available for the Mini Electric too.
The compact EV is currently available in Malaysia in two variants including the standard model and the Resolution Edition. While they are identical in terms of performance, the Resolution Edition comes with additional aesthetic features to set it apart from the standard Mini Electric.
Specifically, the chrome elements on its exterior have been replaced with the Resolute Bronze finish that is exclusive to the Resolute Edition model. Among them include the surrounds of the EV’s headlights, taillights, and radiator grille as well as door handles and side scuttles.
The Mini Electric Resolute Edition also comes with bonnet stripes as standard in addition to a black Waistline Finisher and 17-inch Electric Collection Spoke alloy wheels. There is also the Resolute label on the EV’s door sills and Nappa leather steering wheel to further highlight the identity of this particular flavour of Mini Electric.
Circling back to the performance figure, both Mini Electric variants have been equipped with a front-mounted 135kW (184hp) electric motor that can deliver a maximum torque of 270Nm. With a top speed of 150km/h, the EV can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds.
The EV has also been fitted with a 28.9kWh battery that allows it to travel for up to 234km on a single charge according to WLTP standards. When it comes to charging, it takes around 2 hours 30 minutes for the battery level of the EV to reach 80% if charged through the on-board 11kW AC charger although the charging time can be reduced to 35 minutes by plugging the Mini Electric into a 50kW DC fast charger.
Similar to the perks that were provided to the BMW iX, new Mini Electric customers will be able to charge their new EV for free at more than 100 JomCharge AC and DC chargers throughout Malaysia for one year.
Not only that, customers will also be able to utilise Gentari chargers since they are part of the JomCharge network as well. They will also be provided with one-year of free unlimited access to chargEV AC chargers.
The deal which is available until the end of June also allows customers to obtain the Mini Electric through the Easy Drive Financing scheme that offers a monthly instalments rate that is as low as RM1,699 although this particular rate does not apply to the Resolute Edition model. Alternatively, customers can opt for a free Mini wall box charger for their home instead.
When it comes to pricing, the standard Mini Electric currently starts at RM193,834 not inclusive of insurance while the Resolute Edition has a starting price of RM205,834. Each new Mini comes with a 2-year warranty and 5-year roadside assistance as standard but customers can opt for the Extended Warranty + Service Package which is currently being offered at a discounted price of RM5,330 when they purchase their new Mini Electric.
Given Mini Electric’s relatively short range and fast charging time, the year-long free charging access should be extremely beneficial to owners. For more in-depth details regarding this limited-time deal, you can reach out to the nearest Mini dealers or fill up the promo’s registration of interest form on Mini Malaysia’s website.
