Audi e-tron GT Malaysia: Tony Stark’s Porsche Taycan on the cheap

The Porsche Taycan is arguably the most desirable electric vehicle on sale in Malaysia right now, with its scintillating performance, curvaceous good looks and a price tag that ranges from pricey to ludicrous. But if you want a slight discount and the upside of a sharper design and certified movie star quality—thanks to its appearance in Avengers: Endgame—you might want to consider its twin, the Audi e-tron GT, which has recently been launched in Malaysia.

Based on the same J1 platform as its Stuttgart sibling and sharing around 40% of its parts, the fetching four-door coupé is available in standard quattro and hot RS e-tron quattro variants. As with the Q8 e-tron, the e-tron GT comes with a basic two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty (a five-year warranty and three-year maintenance package costs between RM12,000 and RM15,000), an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty and five years of complimentary roadside assistance. On-the-road prices are as follows:

  • Audi e-tron GT quattro – RM588,790
  • Audi e-tron GT quattro with Dynamic Package – RM667,790
  • Audi RS e-tron GT – RM793,790

This means the base e-tron GT is about RM60,000 less expensive than the equivalent Taycan 4S, with a bigger battery to boot. It loses a bit of power, sure, but 350kW (469hp) and 630Nm of torque sent to all four wheels is still nothing to be sneezed at, and if that’s not enough, a boost mode pushes those figures to 390kW (522hp) and 640Nm. So equipped, the Audi gets from zero to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds.

If you want even more power, there’s the RS e-tron GT that pumps out 440kW (590hp) and a thumping 830Nm—or 475kW (639hp) in boost mode—firing it to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds. All e-tron GTs come with adaptive dampers, but the RS model throws on full air suspension, rear-wheel steering, tungsten carbide brakes, a locking rear differential and lots of carbon fibre goodies on the outside and in.

You can capture some of that car’s magic by opting for the Dynamic Package for the regular quattro, adding the trick brakes, rear steering and carbon roof. Inside, the e-tron GT is a simpler proposition compared to the Taycan, with two displays (a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch centre touchscreen) instead of four. There’s no touchscreen for the front passenger, and you get physical air-conditioning controls. Find out more about the e-tron GT by watching the video below.
