Aside from the Vivobook Go 15, Asus Malaysia has also introduced the Vivobook 15X, the latest laptop in the main Vivobook Classic line. A smaller version of the Vivobook 16X launched last year, it pairs the Vivobook Go 15’s 15.6-inch screen size with either a Intel 13th-gen Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 7000 series processor, bolstering the company’s lower-midrange notebook lineup.
Asus Vivobook 15X Malaysia pricing and availability
In Malaysia, the Vivobook 15X is available in just a single configuration each for the Intel- and AMD-powered versions, with pricing as follows:
- Asus Vivobook 15X (K3504), Intel Core i5-1335U, 8GB RAM, 512GB storage – RM3,099
- Asus Vivobook 15X (M3504), AMD Ryzen 7 7730U, 8GB RAM, 1TB storage – RM3,199
Both models are only offered in a Cool Silver finish; the Intel variant will go on sale in the first week of June, while the AMD version will follow suit sometime later this month.
Asus Vivobook 15X specs and features
While the Vivobook 15X looks pretty similar to the Vivobook Go 15, it’s a slightly more premium model with a sleeker design and a metal lid. Despite this, it has the same 17.9mm thickness, although it’s very slightly lighter at 1.60kg. It too passes the US military’s MIL-STD-810H standard for durability.
Housed within the aforementioned metal lid is the same 15.6-inch NanoEdge Full HD IPS LCD display (there’s no OLED option for us Malaysians, as with the Vivobook Go 15), again with a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 250 nits. The 15X adds a couple of niceties like an anti-glare coating and TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light emissions and flicker-free operation. The hinge can open up to 180 degrees, allowing the laptop to lay flat.
The similarities with the Vivobook Go 15 extend to the 720p webcam with a built-in privacy shutter and Asus’ 3DNR noise reduction technology, along with AI noise cancelling for clearer Zoom calls. You also get a similar full-sized chiclet keyboard with a numpad, under which sit Asus SonicMaster speakers, this time tuned by Dirac.
Where the Vivobook 15X departs from the cheaper model is the extra firepower under the bonnet. You get a choice of two eight-core processors—the Intel 13th-gen Core i5-1335U based on the Alder Lake architecture and the AMD Ryzen 7 7730U built on the Zen 3 microarchitecture. Both of these come with either Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon integrated graphics, depending on your chosen processor.
The Vivobook 15X also comes with 8GB of user-replaceable (up to 16GB) DDR4 3,200MHz RAM and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD for the Intel version; the AMD model bumps up the storage capacity to 1TB. Both variants are juiced by a 45Wh battery that can be fast-charged at up to 65W.
Along the sides, you’ll find a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, two USB-A ports (one USB 3.2 Gen 1, one USB 2.0), a HDMI 1.4 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Vivobook 15X also comes with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, along with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the trackpad. It ships with Windows 11 Home, and Asus is also bundling in Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021 with every purchase.
