The 1980s cult classic arcade game Pac-Man turns 43 years old on 22nd May 2023. To celebrate the special occasion, Lego has released its Lego Icons Pac-Man Arcade set which even comes with a mechanical hand crank.
The Lego Icons Pac-Man Arcade (10323) comes with 2,651 pieces and it measures 32cm tall, 25cm wide and a depth of 17cm. Designed for adults aged 18 years old and above, the Lego set features a retro arcade cabinet design that comes with a joystick and an illuminated coin slot.
The Pac-Man Arcade set has movable parts but it gets a non-functioning gaming system which lets you simulate a “chase” by winding the hand crank. For an extra touch, the Lego set also gets a large rotating brick display of Blinky and Clyde chasing after Pac-Man or in reverse after Pac-Man eats a Power Pellet. Also included is a scene of a mini figure playing Pac-Man and you can store it inside the cabinet through the removable back panel.
When talking about the design process, Lego Designer Sven Franic said “A cultural icon for the past 40 years, it was a delight to bring PAC-MAN to brick life. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to bring classic gaming experiences to life. Our team of talented designers worked tirelessly to capture the essence of the beloved PAC-MAN arcade machine in brick form, from PAC-MAN himself to the colourful, maze-like environment he inhabits. Every detail was carefully considered and crafted, resulting in a one-of-a-kind LEGO creation that captures the magic of the original game while adding a playful new twist and a couple of Easter eggs – in true video game style. We are thrilled to share this incredible build with the world and cannot wait to see the joy it brings to fans of all ages.”
The Lego Icons Pac-Man Arcade retails for USD 269.99 (about RM1,228) and it will be available in select markets on 4th June 2023. Lego VIP members will get early access to purchase the Lego Pac-man Arcade from 1st June on Lego’s website. So far there’s no availability details for Malaysia yet.
