If you’re travelling south towards Melaka with an electric vehicle (EV), take note that ChargEV’s 50kW DC Charger at Ayer Keroh Overhead Bridge Restaurants (OBR) Southbound is no longer free to use. ChargEV has announced its new charging rates which are based on kWh consumed.
According to ChargEV, the Ayer Keroh OBR Southbound will be charged at RM1.20 per kWh. This particular charger has three nozzles which push 11kW AC (Type 2), 50kW DC (CCS2) and 50kW DC (CHAdeMO). Regardless of whether it is slow AC or fast DC charging, the same RM1.20 per kWh rate will apply. That means a 20kWh charge which tops up about 33% battery on the BYD Atto 3 Extended Range will cost RM24.
This charging location is located next to Baskin Robbins at Ayer Keroh OBR Southbound and it has two dedicated EV charging bays.
ChargEV has also recently revised its charging rates for all Starbucks outlets from RM1.20 per minute to RM1.20 per kWh. Among the two charging methods, kWh-based calculation is more equitable as EV owners will pay for what they consume and not time spent at the chargers. The actual charging rate is subject to various factors including the maximum supported DC rate for the EV as well as the state of charge.
In case you missed it, ChargEV has extended its RM1.20 per kWh promo rate for its ultra-fast Kempower chargers at Berjaya Times Square until the end of June 2023. The charging network has also upgraded its Publika charging location which now offers 50kW DC Charging for RM1.20 per kWh.
