The Asus ROG Ally is perhaps the most exciting upcoming product for gamers in quite a while now, with the handheld set to finally make its debut on 11 May. However, ahead of the launch event some retailers on online shopping platforms have begun listing the ROG Ally for pre-order sale, complete with a starting price of RM4,599 for the base model with 256GB of storage, rising to RM5,599 for the model with 512GB of storage.
However, we weren’t going to just take that price at face value, so we went and asked a representative from Asus Malaysia. And according to them, they have denied that RM4,599 starting price for the ROG Ally—in fact, the rep we spoke to also added that Asus Malaysia hasn’t confirmed whether or not the ROG Ally is coming to our shores just yet either.
That being said, even if you don’t trust Asus Malaysia when they deny the RM4,599 price tag that the listing claims the ROG Ally will start at, there’s another good reason to believe that the upcoming handheld will be much cheaper if it comes to Malaysia. The price for the ROG Ally in North America had recently leaked out due to a now-deleted Best Buy listing for it that priced it at USD699 which puts it somewhere around the ~RM3,101.46 mark—significantly less than RM4,599.
In any case, we’ll have to wait till later this week to be sure of how much the ROG Ally will cost. As mentioned earlier, the Taiwanese giant is set to launch their gaming handheld on 11 May, 10pm local time and you can watch the announcement live on the Asus ROG website or their YouTube channel.
