During Malaysia Autoshow 2023, EVC and BMW showed what an EV powerbank could look like with its mobile vehicle charging concept. Now Gentari, a clean-energy brand under Petronas, is soon introducing an “on-the-go” EV charging solution with a new brand called EVChargeGo.
In a tweet, Gentary says they are ready to revolutionise your EV charging experience with unparalleled driving convenience “On The Go”. From the video, we can see a purple box being switched on while the screen displays “Welcome to Gentari EV Charge Go System”.

Unlike EVC and BMW’s solution which offers a single 30kW DC Charger, it appears that EVChargeGO’s solution can output DC via CCS2 and CHAdeMO ports as well as AC Type-2. Since this is going to be a mobile solution, we reckon that it should be mounted onto a van or a truck and powered by batteries. Hopefully, Gentari is using a pure electric vehicle for 100% emission-free operations.
Although EVC and BMW’s mobile charging vehicle uses an old Nissan Vanette van for its concept, the biggest highlight is the battery which uses repurposed batteries from old electrified BMW and MINIs. A total of 16 units of BMW battery modules were used to power up the DC charger which has a combined original capacity of 30kWh. Since these are old used batteries, the battery pack now offer about 20kWh of usable capacity due to the battery’s 70% State of Health. According to EVC and BMW, the mobile charging vehicle can rescue two stranded EVs that are out of juice and power up to 8 homes in a disaster zone at full capacity.
To address the on-the-go needs of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, Petronas previously introduced ROVR, Malaysia’s first portable refueling service. Essentially, this is a mobile “petrol station” that can deliver petrol to your vehicle. Besides having large commercial trucks with 4,000-litre and 11,000-litre capacity, ROVR also has smaller pickups for direct consumer delivery.
