The Poco F5 Pro will be based on the Redmi K60, but gets one major downgrade

As reported recently, the Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro are set to debut next month in an online launch event on 9 May. While Poco hasn’t specified any real details about the two upcoming smartphones, based on previous news we can already expect the F5 Pro to be based on the China-only Redmi K60.

This means that it’ll feature mostly the same key features as its Redmi counterpart, with the Poco F5 Pro expected to feature the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display pushing a high resolution WQHD+ display that’s also capable of a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1400nits. It’s also expected to be powered by the last generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor under the hood.

However, according to leakster Sudhanshu Ambhore on Twitter, the Poco F5 Pro will come with one notable downgrade over China’s Redmi K60. Despite being nearly the same smartphone, the global Poco F5 Pro will come with a smaller 5,160mAh battery. In contrast, the Redmi K60 has a larger 5,500mah battery.

Both phones will still come with 67W fast charging and 30W wireless charging, meaning the Poco F5 Pro should be the first Poco-branded smartphone to feature wireless charging; Xiaomi had previously only given its mainstream flagship lineup and its experimental Mix smartphones the feature.

Other than that, the Poco F5 Pro will likely come with the same triple rear camera system found on the Redmi K60. This means a main 64MP camera with an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens along with a 16MP front facing camera. You can also expect features such as stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster and support for WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and NFC.

As mentioned earlier, we will be seeing the Poco F5 Pro in its full glory just a couple of weeks from now on 9 May, 8pm local time. The Poco F5—expected to be based on the Redmi Note 12 Turbo with a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 under the hood—will also debut during the event. You can read more about Poco’s upcoming launch here.
