DJI Mavic 3 Pro: World’s first triple camera drone with three focal lengths, starts at RM9,799

DJI has launched their latest flagship consumer drone, the Mavic 3 Pro, and it features not one, not two but a triple camera system onboard that they claim will ‘usher in a new era of aerial content capture’. The triple camera setup, just like on your high end smartphones, will allow users the flexibility of switching between shooters to get a wider variety of shots.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro Malaysia pricing and availability

The DJI Mavic 3 Pro is now available for pre-order until the 8th of May, and you can get it from the DJI official store on Shopee or Lazada as well as the DJI Flagship store in Pavillion KL and their authorised retail stores throughout the country.

One thing’s for sure though: the DJI Mavic 3 Pro isn’t cheap. It starts at RM9,799 for just the DJI Mavic 3 Pro itself with the DJI remote controller, a couple of spare propellers, a charger and a cable. The Fly More Combo bundle adds two more battery packs, a charging hub, an extra cable, a carrying bag and four ND filters for RM12,399.

Upgrading the controller in the Fly More combo to the DJI RC Pro meanwhile increases the price tag to RM14,999. Lastly, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine Premium Combo will set you back RM21,999, which gets you the Cine model of the drone with the Fly More Combo and the RC Pro.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro specs and features

The star of the show here with the Mavic 3 Pro really is the triple camera setup, with DJI managing to cram in a main 20MP Hasselblad camera using a 4/3 CMOS sensor with a f/2.8-f/11 aperture and a 24mm lens; you may recognise it as similar to the main camera on the regular Mavic 3 done. It’s able to shoot video meanwhile at a max resolution of 5.1K at 50fps and slow mo footage at 120fps in DCI 4K mode.

That gets paired with a 48MP medium tele camera using a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with a 35-degree field of view, a f/2.8 aperture and a 70mm lens. Lastly, there’s the 12MP tele which uses a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with a 166mm lens, a f/3.4 aperture (up from f/4.4 on the Mavic 3’s tele camera) with shots comprising of a 15-degree field of view. Both of these will be able to shoot video at 4K/60fps.

As for battery life, the 5,000mAh battery has a rated maximum flight time of 43 minutes, but that’s with DJI flying at a constand 32.4kph without any crosswind and shooting at 1080p/24fps; chances are you’ll have a lower total flight time if you’re using the Mavic 3 Pro to its fullest potential. There’s also the regular suite of the DJI APAS 5.0 obstacle avoidance and DJI AirSense safety features along with their videography tools like FocusTrack, ActiveTrack, Spotlight and MasterShots.

There’s also the Mavic 3 Pro Cine edition, which like previous Cine models bumps up the feature set even more with stuff like Apple ProRes capture, 10Gbps data transfer cable and a 1TB SSD drive, but will add RM7,000 to the price tag. The Cine will be ever so slightly heavier than the regular Mavic 3 Pro, weighing in at 963g compared to 958g on the standard drone.
