TM offers 2Gbps and 1Gbps Unifi Business Fibre from RM349/month

Besides home users, TM is also offering its gigabit broadband options of up to 2Gbps on Unifi Business Fibre. Typically, business fibre plans cost more than residential consumers but TM now offers both 2Gbps and 1Gbps plans at the same price.

The highest 2Gbps Unifi Business Fibre plan costs RM399/month while the 1Gbps Unifi Business Fibre plan option costs RM349/month, which is the same price as its current 800Mbps offering. Both plans come with a Simple Voice Plus plan which offers free calls worth RM70 including unlimited calls to TM Fixed Line. Similar to 2Gbps and 1Gbps Unifi Home users, business users can enjoy next-day installation and 12 business hour restoration service. Also included is a WiFi 6 Optical Network Router with an additional WiFi 6 certified Mesh. As usual, these fibre broadband installations come with a 24-month contract.

Take note that TM’s current 2Gbps Unifi offering is actually an aggregated 2Gbps bandwidth. Essentially, you’re getting 2x 1Gbps connections as each LAN port has a maximum bandwidth of 1Gbps. This means if you’re doing a speed test on a single device, you won’t be able to get more than 1Gbps. However, two devices can get 1Gbps each (2x 1Gbps) when the speed test is conducted concurrently.

In short, you’re not getting a true 2Gbps connection but a bigger pipe to support more users and devices at your business premise. Obviously, your devices must also support Gigabit LAN or WLAN in order to make full use of the higher bandwidth.

It is mentioned in the FAQ, that TM has an Ultra Speedtest server which can only be accessed via the D-Link mobile app. The built-in speedtest engine on the D-Link DPN-FX3060V optical network router will allow you to test your total aggregated bandwidth for the 2Gbps plan. The 1Gbps Unifi Business Fibre plan has an upload speed of 500Mbps, while the 2Gbps option has an upload speed of 1Gbps.

For more info, you can visit the Unifi Business page.

In case you missed it, Maxis has quietly started to offer 1Gbps fibre broadband for business users. The 1Gbps plan costs just RM189/month but it is only offered in Maxis’ own-build fibre network infrastructure.
