We’ve been testing out the Yes 5G NVIDIA GeForce Now cloud gaming service for a couple of weeks now since it was made available for Yes 5G users to try out during an exclusive beta period. Seeing as it was made free during the beta, we’re sure a number of Yes users have hopped on board the cloud gaming service during this time.
If you have signed up like we did, you might have then received an email from Yes 5G that states that the beta period will be ending on 14 April 2023; they had already extended the end of the beta period once from 10 April to 14 April. After that, if you want to continue using the cloud gaming platform, you’ll have to pay RM40/month, with a special 25% discount for Yes users for the first six months, bringing the subscription down to RM30/month.
It should be pointed out though that according to the email, you have till today (12 April) to cancel your subscription to GeForce Now. This is because even though you may have signed up for it during the free beta period, once the beta ends, you’ll be automatically charged RM30/month on 13 April for another month of GeForce Now. If you’re no longer interested in the cloud service, you should quickly cancel it before you get charged.
However, if you do want to continue with your subscription to GeForce Now, it looks like Yes 5G’s offering will actually be somewhat cheaper than Singapore’s GeForce Now that was introduced there in partnership with StarHub. There, GeForce Now is split into two tiers, a Premium tier priced at SGD9.99 (~RM33.12) and a Premium Pro at SGD14.99 (~RM49.70).
There’s no details just yet on what Yes 5G’s GeForce Now plans will look like, but based off their website it does seem like there will be a plan available for non-Yes 5G users too at least. At the moment, beta period users get a Premium account with 6 hours of gaming per session and high priority to games, though no note on the total gaming hours given per month.
If you’re considering signing up for the cloud gaming service when it officially goes live, likely shortly after the beta period ends, you can check out our review of Yes 5G NVIDIA GeForce Now first here.
