Car subscription service Flux has now branched out to motorcycles, the company announced today. This offering, said to be the first of its kind in Malaysia, allows users to freely swap between two wheels and four.

The company is offering six 2023 models, including the usual Honda (RS150R and Wave 125i) and Yamaha (Y15ZR and 135LC) models. But the standout is the all-electric Blueshark R1, available in Lite and regular variants. Monthly pricing for the bikes on a 60-month (five-year) contract, excluding 6% tax, are:

  • Blueshark R1 – RM414 per month
  • Blueshark R1 – RM358 per month
  • Honda RS150R – RM325 per month
  • Honda Wave 125i – RM291 per month
  • Yamaha Y15ZR – RM355 per month
  • Yamaha 135LC – RM333 per month

In the case of the Blueshark R1, the listed prices are introductory launch rates, available for a limited time only. The company is also offering interested users the chance to try out the bike—including its novel battery swap feature—for a week at RM200. Flux’s monthly rates are notable in that they undercut Blueshark’s own rental service targeted at commercial buyers, priced at RM487 per month for the Lite model and RM547 per month for the regular R1.

There are a few caveats, of course, namely the fact that, one-week subscription aside, you’ll have to lease a Flux vehicle on a minimum of a 24-month (two-year) contract; 36-month (three -year) and 60-month options are also available. The aforementioned prices also include a mileage cap of 2,000km, and you’ll have to pay extra for either a 2,750km cap or unlimited mileage.

The good news is that Flux will let you purchase the bike at the end of the contract at a lower price, based on vehicle’s guaranteed future value (GFV). As usual, each subscription includes insurance, road tax, servicing and maintenance—including the replacement of certain wear-and-tear components—meaning that you’ll practically only have to pay for your own fuel. The company also offers flexible contracts and provides concierge services that will pick up the vehicle for servicing and return it to your doorstep.

Flux has also announced that it has expanded its car subscription service to Johor, letting users drive anything from a Perodua Axia to a Tesla Model Y. The company is also offering customers 50% off their first month of subscription as part of its Raya sale, along with a free RM300 petrol voucher for Johorean users.
