Honor’s latest flagship smartphones, the Magic 5 series and the Magic Vs, are launching in Malaysia next week. Honor Malaysia has confirmed that the official launch will be taking place on Thursday, 6th April 2023 at 2:30pm.

The Honor Magic 5 series is the brand’s latest and greatest, featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. The Pro model for Malaysia is expected to come with 12GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of storage. The Magic 5 Pro boasts a 6.81″ 120Hz 2848×1313 pixels resolution OLED display which boasts a peak HDR brightness of 1800 nits. The device also boasts the industry’s first 2160Hz PWM dimming for reduced flicker in low brightness.

In the camera department, the Magic 5 Pro features a triple camera setup which consists of a 50MP f/1.6 main camera, 50MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 50MP telephoto camera that can do 3.5x optical zoom and digital zoom up to 100x. It also gets a 12MP selfie camera that’s accompanied by a 3D depth sensor. One of the key highlights is its ability to snap action shots and low-light photos quickly with its AI-assisted Falcon Capture algorithm.

Powering the device is a 5,100mAh battery which supports 66W SuperCharge via USB-C. It also gets wireless charging, IP68-rated dust and water resistance and stereo speakers. The device supports 5G, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.2 and it has Google Mobile Services pre-installed.

Meanwhile, the Magic Vs is the company’s first foldable device that competes directly with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device gets a 6.45″ 120Hz Full HD+ OLED cover display while the inside gets a flexible 7.9″ 90Hz 2272×1984 pixels resolution OLED panel. Under the hood, it runs on an older Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The device gets a triple-camera setup that consists of a 54MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and an 8MP telephoto camera. It also gets 16MP selfie cameras for both the cover and the inner display. Despite having compact dimensions, Honor has managed to fit a generous 5,000mAh battery which supports 66W fast charging via USB-C. However, it doesn’t come with water resistance and wireless charging.

Both Honor Magic flagship series devices come with MagicOS 7.1 that’s based on Android 13. Honor is promising to provide 5 years of security updates and 3 major OS updates.
