Apart from Samsung, Oppo is perhaps the next biggest company that’s investing heavily into the foldable smartphone scene. Having wowed the world first with its Oppo Find N and then more recently with the Oppo Find N2, the Chinese giant has now launched their more compact, flip phone foldable to Malaysia—the Oppo Find N2 Flip.

Oppo Find N2 Flip specs
As you can probably tell, the most unique feature on the Find N2 Flip is its large cover display. Okay maybe not large, but certainly one of the biggest we’ve seen on a clamshell foldable so far. It’s a 3.26-inch, AMOLED display pushing a 720 x 382p resolution with a 250ppi pixel density. Taking up just over half of the space available on the outside shell, the secondary screen doesn’t have a fancy high refresh rate to it, but is still capable of 900nits peak brightness.
You can even access a bunch of widgets from this screen, such as using your rear cameras to take a selfie, shoot a video as well as control your earbuds and set a timer. There’s even interactive, digital pets that you can set to live on the outer display, but for the more practical ones out there you can reply your texts off the outer display too. Being a clamshell, the Find N2 Flip also gets nice and small when folded, measuring just 85.5mm tall and 16.02mm thick.
The actual display meanwhile is supposedly crease-less, and at first glance it definitely gets close though if you squint hard enough you can still tell there’s a crease where it folds. It’s a 6.8-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display with a 1Hz to 120Hz variable refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The main display also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, with a peak brightness of 1600nits.
Oppo claims the waterdrop hinge folding it is ‘industry leading’, with a lifespan of over 400,000 folds. It also lets you hold it in ‘FlexForm’ mode at a 90-degree and below angle, though it’s slightly more finicky than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Under the hood, you’ll find the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ system-on-chip, which isn’t technically their most powerful offering—they now have a newer Dimensity 9200—but the Dimensity 9000+ certainly isn’t a slouch and should still offer solid, flagship class performance. This gets mated to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and the Find N2 Flip will come with ColorOS 13 out of the box. Oppo is also guaranteeing four years of major Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches, putting them on par with Samsung in terms of software support.
In the camera department meanwhile there’s a 50MP, f/1.8 main camera flanked by an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide camera. There’s a 32MP, f/2.4 selfie camera with autofocus too, though seeing as there’s such a nice outer display on the Find N2 Flip, you’ll probably take much more pictures using the main camera via the secondary screen than actually using the selfie camera. The cameras also come with the Hasselblad branding and are powered by Oppo’s in-house MariSilicon X imaging NPU.
Keeping the lights on meanwhile is a 4,300mAh battery that Oppo claims will last you a whole day, with 20 hours of video playback, 16 hours of social media and 6 hours of video call possible from a full charge. It also has 44W SuperVOOC fast charging that they say will get you a 50% charge in just 23 minutes. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint sensor too, along with stereo speakers and support for 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC connectivity.
