The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered Realme GT 2 Pro just got a RM200 price drop

Almost a year ago now, Realme debuted their mainstream flagship for 2021, the Realme GT 2 Pro. It was notable for a number of reasons, mainly its large display, a back panel made out of biopolymers such as paper pulp as well as a very attractive RM2,999 price tag that positioned it well against last year’s suite of flagship smartphones.

If you’re still keen on the Realme GT 2 Pro though, well you may be in luck as Realme has announced that they’re giving it a RM200 price cut, making it just RM2,799 now. However, you should note that the price drop will only apply if you’re buying it from a retail outlet and not online.

For that much money, you’re getting one of the more standout value flagships from last year. Up front, there’s a large 6.7-inch, WQHD+ AMOLED display with LTPO 2.0 allowing for a 1 to 120Hz refresh rate. You’re also getting a 1000Hz touch sampling rate, a peak brightness of 1,400nits, a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and full coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. There’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus over it too, while on the back you’ll find a unique biopolymer finish designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa.

Under the hood, the Realme GT 2 Pro has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. You’ll also get Realme UI 3.0 out of the box, though it’s worth noting that since it’s almost a full year since its release you’ll only have two years of Android OS upgrades and three years of security patches left from their original guarantee of three and four years respectively.

Photos and videos meanwhile get taken care of by a main 50MP, f/1.8 camera using the Sony IMX766 sensor flanked by a 50MP, f/2.2 ultrawide shooter offering a 150° angle, together with a 3MP micro-lens that provides up to 40x magnification. For selfies meanwhile, the GT 2 Pro has a 32MP, f/2.4 selfie camera using the Sony IMX615 sensor up front.

Keeping the lights on meanwhile is a 5,000mAh battery with 65W SuperDart fast charging. Other features of note include stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor and support for 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. However, the Realme GT 2 Pro does not come with wireless charging support nor does it have an IP rating for dust and water resistance.
