Mid-range phones have come a long way in terms of offering high-end and premium specs at affordable prices. You can find mid-range phones that offer a display, camera, charging speed or design from flagship-class phones. But more often than not, you might only find one of these flagship-class features in a mid-range phone.
Here’s where the new OPPO Reno8 T 5G separates itself in a competitive market by packing 3 features that are not offered together on any other mid-range phone under RM2,000.
120Hz Curved AMOLED display
The display is arguably the most important hardware on a smartphone as it’s an intermediate between your eyes and the content. With that in mind, the OPPO Reno8 T 5G brings with it a 6.7-inch AMOLED with a buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate. To put it simply, navigating ColourOS 13 on the Reno8 T 5G will give you the impression the UI is gliding on ice.
Colours will pop as well thanks to the display’s 10-bit colour depth, allowing the phone to reproduce over 1 billion different shades. With that range of colours, the Reno8 T 5G has been certified to produce rich-looking content when watching Amazon Prime HD and Netflix HD.
Your eyes will have an easier time viewing the display at lower brightness as the phone features a high-frequency 2,160Hz PWM dimming which helps reduce eye strain.
All these features are packed into OPPO’s 3D curved display which flows into the metal frame on each side with a 56-degree angle curve. By doing so, it creates the illusion of an edge-to-edge display, providing a touch from a class above.
A 108MP sensor headlines the camera setup
Light is an important factor in producing a bright and clear image on a camera. To help capture as much light as possible, OPPO’s Reno8 T 5G features a 108MP sensor. With the extra amount of light information a larger sensor can capture, it allows you to crop into a photo while still preserving much of the clarity of the original photo.
However, it’s in the low light shots where you will see a significant advantage of the 108MP sensor thanks to some help from computational photography. Using a technique called pixel binning, the Reno8 T 5G can combine data from 9 pixels into a single pixel, improving clarity and brightness. What you’re left with in the end is a 12MP image that is richer in detail and clearer.
A large sensor also helps produce a more natural-looking bokeh effect and OPPO also provides some fun camera modes like AI Colour Portrait which maintains the colour of the subject but removes the colour from the background.
Explore the microscopic world
A feature that was first introduced on OPPO’s flagship Find X3 Pro, microlens makes its way to the more affordable Reno8 T 5G. Explore everyday objects at a microscopic level with 20-times and 40-times magnification.
You’ll be surprised at how different an object looks at 40 times magnification, giving you an opportunity to turn a mundane object into an abstract masterpiece.
All these features are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G with 8GB of RAM paired with 256GB of storage which can be further expanded with a microSD card up to 1TB. Providing juice to the hardware is a 4,800mAh battery with support for 67W SUPERVOOC charging with the included charger.
Available in Midnight Black and Sunrise Gold, the Reno8 T 5G is now available for purchase at RM1,799. Purchases made from OPPO Brand Stores, My OPPO Space, OPPO official online store, e-comm partners, and authorized dealers from 11th February to 12th March will come with free gifts worth RM377 including Enco Buds2 (RM 129), 1-year screen protection (RM 139) and 1-year extended warranty (RM 109).
