Following the introduction of the new Uni5G postpaid plans, Telekom Malaysia will stop offering free 5G access for its older Unifi Mobile Ultimate plan. The postpaid plan which was offered for RM59/month on a 12-month contract (RM79/month without a contract) was given a free unlimited 5G data pass starting from the 31st October 2022.

As pointed out by @aniq8676, users on the current Ultimate Postpaid plan are told to switch to the newer Uni5G plan in order to enjoy 5G services. At the moment, these subscribers can enjoy 5G as they were given a free unlimited 5G data pass as part of the 5G trial period. With the trial period coming to an end, Ultimate Postpaid users will soon be restricted to 4G only.

Old Unifi Mobile Ultimate Plan

To recap, the Unifi Mobile Ultimate plan offers unlimited data, 10GB of LTE hotspot, unlimited SMS and unlimited calls for RM79/month or RM59/month if you sign up with a 12-month contract. As a comparison, the new top-tier Uni5G Postpaid costs RM89/month without a contract and it offers unlimited 4G+5G data, 10GB hotspot, unlimited calls and no SMS. However, you do get the option to purchase 5G phones at a discounted price.

We’ve reached out to Telekom Malaysia, and they have confirmed that existing Unifi Mobile Ultimate Plan customers can continue to use the free unlimited 5G pass until the end of February 2023. Starting from March 2023, they encourage customers on their 4G-only Ultimate plan to change to the latest Uni5G Postpaid 89 to enjoy unlimited 5G and 4G data.

It added that the new Uni5G plan offers 5G phones with attractive discounts. At the time of writing, they are offering the Galaxy S23 5G for RM3,089 while the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G is offered from RM4,329. These devices are tied to a 24-month contract period.

Thanks @aniq8676 for the tip!
