It’s not just the OnePlus 11 that’s being launched today—OnePlus has also revealed its first ever tablet, the OnePlus Pad. As the name suggests, this device takes plenty of inspiration from the iPad, aside from one notable design feature.
But we’ll start with the display, which is an 11.6-inch LCD panel with a 2800×2000 resolution that results in an impressive pixel density of 296ppi. It also has a whopping 144Hz refresh rate and reaches a maximum brightness of 500 nits. OnePlus says it is the first tablet to feature a 7:5 display, but that’s not too far off a conventional 4:3 aspect ratio; in fact, its proportions are only slightly taller than the latest iPad lineup.
With 6.54mm bezels all around, the OnePlus Pad boasts an 88% screen-to-body ratio. It also supports Dolby Vision HDR, with sound piped through four speakers with Dolby Atmos technology.
Those are some decent specs, but there are some trade-offs that have clearly been made to hit a certain price point. Powering the whole device is the MediaTek Dimensity 9000, a flagship-class chip that’s now more than a year old.
The OnePlus Pad is also being offered with either 8 or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and either 128 or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. A generous 9,510mAh battery is claimed to provide up to 12.4 hours of video playback and one month of standby time. There’s also 67W SuperVOOC fast charging that provides a full charge in 60 minutes.
But you’re not here about the specs, are you? No, you’re looking at the giant camera bump—not only is it circular like on the OnePlus 11 (which my colleague Raymond said “only its mother could love”), but it’s also smack in the middle of the tablet. It houses a basic 13MP shooter that’s capable of recording 4K video at 30fps, while an 8MP landscape selfie camera sits in front.
The OnePlus Pad measures 258mm long, 189.4 mm wide and 6.5 mm thick and weighs a stout 552g. The body is machined out of aluminium with a 2.5D curved edge and a slightly domed screen. It’s available in just one colour, Halo Green, which matches the available verdant hues on the 10 Pro, 10T and new 11 smartphones.
Other features include WiFi 6 (there’s no cellular model available) and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The OnePlus Pad will ship with Android 13 skinned with OxygenOS 13, and OnePlus has also added some cross-compatibility with its phones, including photo, video and text message syncing. Bizarrely, the tablet is not offered with a fingerprint reader or any kind—it’s face unlock or your passcode.
OnePlus is offering the Pad with some iPad-aping accessories, including a stylus and a magnetic keyboard case. The OnePlus Pad will be available to order in North America, Europe, India and the Middle East starting in April; as yet, it’s unclear if it will be sold in Malaysia.
