You can get your hands on AMD’s best gaming processors by the end of February

After showing it off to the world at CES 2023 and then accidentally giving out a wrong release date for it, AMD is finally confirming when gamers can buy their latest Ryzen 7000X3D processors and for how much.

If you’re ready to build a new system with AMD’s gaming processors, you’ll need to wait till the 28th of February for them to be available globally from AMD’s authorised partners and retailers, with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in particular only being available later in the year on 6 April. Here’s how much they’ll cost:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 16-core/32-thread, 4.2GHz/5.7GHz, 144MB cache – USD699 (~RM2,982.98)
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, 12-core/24-thread, 4.4GHz/5.6GHz, 140MB cache – USD599 (~RM2,556.23)
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 8-core/16-thread, 4.2GHz/5.0GHz, 104MB – USD449 (~RM1,916.11)

Now we don’t know just how much they’ll cost in Malaysia just yet, but we can take an educated guess on how much the Ryzen 9 7950X3D will cost here. Seeing as it retails for USD699, its the same price tag that AMD placed on the Ryzen 9 7950X, which in turn has a local price of RM3,399. This could mean that the Ryzen 9 7950X3D will come to Malaysia at the same price. Incidentally, this does make them quite expensive in comparison to the non-X Ryzen 7000 processors with a 65W TDP, which start at USD229 for the Ryzen 5 7600 and tops out at USD429 for the Ryzen 9 7900.

As a refresher, these Ryzen 7000X3D processors feature AMD’s 3D V-Cahce technology, making them incredibly good at gaming workloads in particular. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D packs 144MB of total cache, 128MB of that L3 cache. It features 16 cores and 32 threads, running at 4.2GHz base clock and boosts of up to 5.7GHz. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D meanwhile also packs 128MB of L3 cache, with 4MB less of total cache. It comes with 12 cores and 24 threads, running at 4.4GHz base with boosts of up to 5.6GHz. Then there’s the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with 96MB of L3 cache along with eight cores and 16 threads with boost speeds of up to 5.0GHz. All three of these chips have a 120W TDP.

AMD claims that the 3D V-Cache technology in these chips makes them the fastest gaming processors in the world, with up to 14% performance gains over its predecessors. You can read more about the Ryzen 7000X3D lineup and the non-X Ryzen 7000 series processors in our previous article here.
