WhatsApp will soon allow you to send photos in original high quality

If you live in Malaysia, you’re likely an avid user of the WhatsApp app to text your friends and to receive spam messages from your uncles in group chats. The app can be used to send and share a lot of things online, except for original and high-quality images. But the platform is reportedly changing that for the better.

In a new update through Google Play’s Beta Program, WhatsApp is going to let beta users send photos in their original quality soon. The update is still currently under development, but it’s planned to be released in a future update.

WABetaInfo posted a screenshot (above) to showcase what the new update would look like. WhatsApp plans to integrate a new setting icon within the drawing tool header—which will enable users to configure the quality of any photo. Selecting the icon will let users select an option to send photos in their original quality.

Other communication platforms like Telegram have had this feature for a long while now. But admittedly, it’s a lot easier to communicate with folks in Malaysia over WhatsApp—simply because almost everyone has it. And with WhatsApp finally letting users send high-quality images eventually, there might not be a need for Malaysians to install Telegram anymore.
