Go To-U Malaysia, a subsidiary of Roda Emas Industries (REISB), launched its first EV charging hub at Rekascape in Cyberjaya on Thursday. As an introductory offer, the DC fast chargers are free to use until the end of January 2023. However, shortly after the launch, it appears that the EV DC chargers are not available even today.
Malaysia’s first Go To-U EV charging hub has two Star Charge DC chargers with a total of four EV charging nozzles that can deliver 30kW output each. The location also houses a lifestyle hub which has a lounge area for customers and a coffee vending machine.
To activate the chargers, you’ll need to download the Go To-U app which is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Besides Go To-U charging hub, the same app can be used to activate EV chargers operated by Sime Darby Motors and TNBX. As shown below, all four 30kW DC nozzles at Go To-U EV Hub are currently not available.
Go To-U has responded to the situation with the following post on Facebook:
Creating of such infrastructure projects is a long process and it takes enormous effort and resources to make everything work as it should. Some delays are normal as simply not everything depends on us or on our partners. GO TO-U approach is quality service you simply can’t find in any other places because we created a unique eco system for operators and end users based on “pro active reservation technology “. We are the only one company in the World who offers such functionality to all users of EV over our interface in mobile app. If you have any questions about how we operate, please feel free to ask. We are very open to you as feedback from our users is a foundation for us to become even better.

To have their first EV charging hub unavailable after the launch isn’t a good look. Unfortunately, Go To-U has not provided a tentative timeline of when the chargers will be restored fully. Hopefully, the chargers will be made available soon before the free trial period is over. Go To-U has yet to reveal its pricing and it is understood that they are applying for the Energy Commission’s EVCS licence which will enable them to charge based on kWh instead of parking time.
Interestingly, Go To-U claims to be the world’s first to offer pro reservation technology for EVs in a mobile app. Our very own homegrown ParkEasy also offers a reservation system for Shell Recharge which requires an app to manage the smart parking barrier. However, Go To-U has the advantage of booking specific time slots with a preferred duration of up to 7 days in advance.
