Twitter Business announced that they have rolled out Twitter Blue for Business, described as ” a new way for businesses and their affiliates to verify and distinguish themselves on Twitter”. This feature lets subscribers have their very own gold-coloured checkmark, rather than the classic blue one.
“We are taking Twitter Blue’s rollout as an opportunity to further enhance and distinguish businesses on Twitter. As a Twitter Blue for Business subscriber, a company can link any number of their affiliated individuals, businesses, and brands to their account. When they do, affiliated accounts will get a small badge of their parent company’s profile picture next to their blue or gold checkmark,” wrote Twitter Business.
Last week, Twitter announced Blue for Business, explaining that company profiles subscribed to Blue will have a gold checkmark. It also explained that the plan allows companies to mark brands or people affiliated with them with a square logo. For example, Twitter employees get a square Twitter logo next to their display names.
“By creating this connection, we’re making it possible for businesses to create networks within their own organizations–on Twitter. Businesses can affiliate their leadership, brands, support handles, employees or teams. Journalists, sports team players or movie characters can all be affiliated. You name it, we got it. Each affiliate will be verified and officially linked to their parent handle based on a list provided by the parent business,” continued Twitter Business.
Twitter has yet to share details about how much it will charge for Blue for Business and what other perks it will offer. However, they said that they will update added information soon.
Currently, they are only piloting Blue for Business with a select group of businesses. They will be rolling it out to more businesses next year.
