BYD Atto 3 electric SUV is launching in Malaysia on 9 December

BYD or also known as Build Your Dreams, is the latest Electric Vehicle player to enter the Malaysian market via Sime Darby Motors. As teased months earlier, the company will be bringing in their BYD e6 5-seater electric MPV as well as the BYD Atto 3 SUV.

BYD Sime Darby Motor Launch happening on 9-11 December

BYD – Sime Darby Motors Malaysia has confirmed that the BYD Atto 3 will be launching on 9-11 December 2022 at Bandar Malaysia. Customers are invited to experience the Atto 3 at the venue by registering their interest online. They are offering four limited 2-hour time slots during the three-day period when you can probably get up close to the vehicles. Who knows they might offer a chance for you to test drive on a runway considering Bandar Malaysia is located at the old Sungai Besi airport which had also served as RMAF Kuala Lumpur Air Base.

BYD Atto 3 Specs and Features

The BYD Atto 3 is an electric crossover SUV which gets a single electric motor powering the front wheels pushing 150kW (201bp) and 310Nm of torque. Globally, there are two battery options available – 49.9kWh that pushes 345km of range (WLTP) and 60.5kWh with 420km of range (WLPT). In terms of size, the Atto 3 sits between the Proton X50 and X70. It has a wheelbase of 2720mm, an overall length of 4455mm and a width of 1875mm.

Besides the standard Type-2 AC charger, the standard range model supports CCS2 DC charging up to 70kW while the extended range model supports up to 80kW. A full charge via AC takes up to 9.5 hours or 1.2 hours with a DC fast charger. What’s interesting is that the Atto 3 supports VTOL (vehicle to load) which allows you to use the EV to power up other home appliances similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

As you would expect from a modern EV, it comes packed with tech and safety features. Included as standard are adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go support, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear cross-traffic brake and door open warning. The centre dash has a rotating 12.8″ touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto support coming soon according to the Australian spec-sheet.
