Welcome back to another episode of Ask Us Anything where Duke gathers your questions from the internet and answers them. In today’s episode, find out if you can just plug your EV into a 3-pin wall socket, tablets with LTE below RM1,000, and a couple of rapid-fire questions about the Honor Pad 8.
Duke’s answer: Yes, you can plug an EV into any 3-pin wall socket, but it will just take too long. Therefore, it’s recommended that you install a higher-powered level 2 AC charger at home or find a public level 2 AC or level 3 DC charger.
Duke’s answer: Dzamira just put out an article on the best tablets for under RM1,000 and there were 2 devices that offered LTE support on that list. However, a device that did not make it on to her list because it just launched in Malaysia is the Honor Pad X8. You can snag one for RM899 when it goes on sale starting from the 11th of November. Honor Malaysia is bundling a free Honor Pad X8 flip cover worth up to RM99.
Duke’s answer: This would be like Samsung Dex or Desktop Mode on select Huawei devices powered by the Kirin 980 chip, which changes the UI to look more like a PC. As for the Honor Pad 8, it doesn’t come with any desktop mode.
You also asked if Honor’s multi-screen collaboration mode works with non-Honor phones. Well, I did test it out with the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 50 Pro in the office and both devices support Honor’s multi-screen collaboration mode. It makes sense since both Honor and Huawei share the software foundations. Besides supporting Huawei phones, the multi-screen collaboration mode will work with supported Honor smartphones like the Honor 70.
Additionally, you asked whether its USB C port supports external displays. The answer to that is a solid no. On the Honor Pad 8, the USB C port only supports charging and data transfer and does not have the pins to support video output.
We are also looking for people to join the SoyaCincau team. There’s an opening for Videographer, editor and graphic designer, and BM Tech writer. If any of these positions caught your attention, you can find more information here.
