Acer Aspire 7 Malaysia: A 144Hz display, Intel Core i5 and a GTX 1650 for less than RM4,000

Back in August, Acer introduced the Aspire 3 and Aspire 5 series of laptops to our shores; conspicuously missing though was the Aspire 7. Well the Taiwanese giant has finally brought the latter to Malaysia, and it packs some serious hardware at a reasonable price.

Acer Aspire 7 Malaysia pricing and availability

While the Acer Aspire 3 and Aspire 5 came in a slew of different models, the Aspire 7 will be available in just one configuration, packing a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1240P with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB of storage, together with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. All of this can be yours at just RM3,899 from now onwards on the Acer eStore as well as their official stores on Shopee and Lazada.

Acer Aspire 7 specs

Right off the bat, Acer seems to be promising quite a lot with a large 15.6-inch, FHD display that pushes a 144Hz refresh rate. You’ll also find a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1240P under the hood, which are 28W chips and should offer a bit more power compared to the 15W U-series processors. This gets mated to a 512GB SSD and 8GB of DDR4 RAM, though you can also add more memory yourself.

On top of that, you’ll also find an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM, meaning that you won’t need to rely on just the Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. The entry-level mobile GTX 1650 may have been released over three years ago now, but it’s still a solid enough graphics card for light gaming on most casual and eSports titles, not to mention that it’ll help out with content creation a bit too.

Other specs of note include a 50Wh battery that Acer rates good for up to 8 hours of use, a 720p webcam and support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. For I/O meanwhile you get a HDMI port, an Ethernet port, three USB-A ports, a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. It weighs roughly 2.1kg and measures 19.9mm thick, and is available in just Charcoal Black.
