The beta for Google Play Games on Windows is now available in Malaysia

Earlier this year, Google announced that they were launching the Google Play Games app for Windows which brought popular Android games like Summoners War and Mobile Legends to PC users. However, it was only for users in Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan back then. Google has now brought it to more regions, which includes the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.

In case you missed it, the Google Play Games for Windows app basically lets you browse, download and play your favourite mobile games on a Windows PC or laptop. This gives you a number of advantages of course, most notably better controls as you can use a keyboard and mouse while also being able to experience the game on a larger screen. Google also claims that it provides a seamless sync across all devices, so you won’t lose any game progression or Google Play Points as you switch between platforms.

“We’re thrilled to expand our platform to more markets for players to enjoy their favorite games on Google Play. As we move towards a full release, we will continue to add new features and evaluate developer and player feedback,” – Arjun Dayal, Google Play Games director

To download and try out the Google Play Games on Windows beta, you’ll also need to ensure your computer meets the minimum requirements as listed by Google. This includes having a PC running at least Windows 10 and above, an SSD with at least 10GB of available storage space, a processor with 4 CPU cores and above, 8GB of RAM and an Intel UHD 630 integrated GPU or above. You’ll also need to be using a Windows admin account with hardware virtualisation turned on. It should be noted though that at time of writing, only about 85 game titles are available right now, but Google are planning to expand the number of titles in the future.

You might also want to know that this is a separate project from what Microsoft is doing with Windows 11. Microsoft had built Windows 11 to support installing Android apps, but this was done in collaboration with Amazon, meaning that you’ll need to use the Amazon Appstore instead of the Google Play Store. It’s also different from the other Android emulators on the market such as Bluestacks that creates a virtual Android system on your computer.
