Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G users in Malaysia are finally getting the One UI 5 update which brings the latest Android 13 version. Besides a refreshed user interface, One UI 5 promises to offer a smoother experience with new animations and transition effects.
The One UI 5 update that’s pushed to Malaysia is about 3.3GB in size so it’s best to download it over an unmetered WiFi connection. The latest update also carries a security patch dated October 2022.
If you haven’t received any notification yet, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
Some of the major changes include new customisation options for the lock screen, stacked widgets and deeper Material You implementation. The update also brings design tweaks for notification and multitasking gestures. Also new is Extract Text, a smarter text recognition feature and a new security and privacy dashboard that helps to detect malware or security concerns, and alerts you if are potentially sharing personal information through insecure channels.
On top of that, Samsung has also updated its native apps including Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Kids, PENUP, Samsung Internet, Samsung Health, Smart Things, Samsung Members, Samsung Pay, Calculator, Smart Switch and Voice Recorder. The camera app has also received some design tweaks which now make it easier to zoom while using it with one hand. There’s also the added ability to use the telephoto camera while shooting in Food mode.
If you need to send your phone for repairs, One UI 5 also brings Maintenance Mode which provides technicians access to your phone while keeping your personal data including photos, messages and contacts safe and private. In case you missed it, you can check out our Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra review.
