Is Vivo’s iQoo sub-brand finally about to launch in Malaysia?

Back in 2019, Vivo revealed that they were launching their own sub-brand called iQoo. It coincided with the debut of the Vivo iQoo gaming smartphone, and since then the brand has seemed to offer some great devices packing a lot of power at a great price. Unfortunately, they were limited to just a few regions such as China and India, but it looks like we could be set to see iQoo arrive in Malaysia very soon.

For starters, the iQoo Malaysia Facebook page, which had been dormant since it was created back in June of last year, finally began seeing some updates. Earlier this month, the page at long last had a profile picture, and earlier today they also updated its cover photo. The page is also replying to comments asking about its arrival by telling them to ‘stay tune’ to their page.

Perhaps the biggest sign though is that the iQoo Malaysia official store is now open on both Shopee and Lazada, with both stores showing just one product listed for now: a listing with the title ‘iQoo Malaysia Smartphone Is Coming Soon’, together with a price tag of RM9,999.00. We don’t actually think that an iQoo smartphone will cost that much of course, but rather it’s likely just to prevent anyone from accidentally buying that listing thinking it’s real.

Their latest flagship is the iQoo 10 Pro, which packs a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip under a 6.78-inch, 1440p AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1500nits peak brightness. It also has a triple camera setup with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 14.6MP telephoto shooter with a 3x optical zoom along with a 16MP selfie camera. Perhaps the most impressive feature though is the absurd 200W fast charging which can get the 4,700W battery to 100% in just ten minutes.

If and when iQoo does officially arrive in Malaysia, it’s bound to be a strong challenger to the other flagship smartphone brands. In any case, more competition in the smartphone scene is always good to see, and will only serve to provide users more options to choose from.
