The Kajang SILK Highway representatives have called out a car for evading toll payments 59 times. On Twitter, they wrote that the car was charged a total of RM256.20 on 14 October 2022.

Kali ini, pemandu kereta Honda pula kantoi selepas 59 kali terlepas bayar tol, dgn tunggakan bayaran sejumlah RM256.20 termasuk caj pentadbiran.

“This time, a driver of a Honda car was fined after 59 missed toll payments, with a total of RM256.20 including administrative charges. The incident happened last night on the Kajang SILK Highway,” wrote the Kajang SILK Highway representatives.

Additionally, the tweet also included the hashtag #Kantoi—which roughly means “caught red-handed”. They added advice to netizens, asking them to “not avoid paying the toll fares”.

Previously, AKLEH—or the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Highway—also publically shamed a toll evader on their Twitter account. That car had a total of RM57.50 in toll arrears.

A common way for cars to evade tolls, and the likely way that this Honda car evaded the tolls, is by tailgating another car really closely. However, tailgating the car in front at the toll booth might be enough to be considered an offence under Sections 42 and 43 of the Road Traffic Act 1987, which punishes anyone driving in a reckless, dangerous or careless, and inconsiderate manner. This can lead to a jail time of up to five years and/or a fine of up to RM15,000.
