The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will kick off on November 21, and as I’m sure you already know, Astro is the only broadcaster in Malaysia to be showing all 64 matches of the football tournament. The company has now announced its fibre internet and TV bundle promos as part of its campaign tied to the event, which will run up to November 30.

As usual, all users are subscribed to the full Sports Pack (including new, upgrading and existing customers, plus Multiroom and Smart TV subscribers) will receive complimentary access to all matches, which will be shown on the dedicated channels CH825 and CH826 (HD) and CH805 and 806 (4K UHD). All channels will begin broadcasting on November 11 to show qualifying matches and other World Cup content. To access these channels, you’ll need either a HD-capable Astro set top box or the 4K Ultra Box.

For new customers, Astro is offering free access to these channels (worth RM99.99) to subscribers of selected TV Bundle Packs without the Sports Pack. The monthly prices for these offerings with the basic 50Mbps fibre package are as follows:

  • Entertainment Pack – from RM179.99 per month
  • Movies Pack (includes Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Go) – from RM184.99 per month
  • Entertainment Plus Pack (includes Netflix) – from RM219.99 per month
  • Premium Pack 3 (includes Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Go) – from RM244.90

Subscribers who sign up for 100Mbps fibre or above with the Sports and Premium 1 packs will instead receive a 30% discount, equating to total savings of RM648 and RM936 respectively. The prices for these packages are:

  • Sports Pack – from RM191.99 per month
  • Premium Pack 1 (includes Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Go) – from RM214.99 per month

All bundles mentioned come with the Ultra Box included and require users to sign a 24-month contract. Existing Astro customers will not be able to take advantage of these promos.

If you don’t want to subscribe to Astro, you can watch 41 matches (27 live, including the final on December 19) for free on RTM. Matches will be broadcast on the RTM2, TV Okey and Sukan RTM channels, as well as on the RTMKlik app.
