The new AirPods Pro 2 has been announced, which promises better sound, ANC, battery life, and swipe controls at the same price as the older AirPods Pro’s initial price point. Additionally, people have also found a cool easter egg of sorts that might make your AirPods Pro 2 just a little bit cooler than the rest of your Apple devices.
As AirPods users know, each of them comes with a free engraving when you purchase them. But with the new AirPods Pro 2, the engraving also shows up in iOS during pairing. You can check out what it looks like below.
This feature seems to be an AirPods Pro 2-exclusive feature, as the engravings don’t show up on the pairing screen for any other engraved Apple item. The feature also doesn’t really contribute anything useful, besides it just being something cool.
I can imagine that someone with a lot of Apple AirPods of the same kind can see some kind of use for the feature. But I don’t know that many people who can afford to have such a problem.
The Apple AirPods Pro 2 doesn’t seem to be available yet for purchase in Malaysia, but it will be priced at RM1,099—same price as the first AirPods Pro. They reportedly deliver six hours of listening with ANC turned on—one and a half hours longer than before, and they even have divots in the stems that support swiping movements for volume adjustments. You can read more information about the new headphones in Jonathan’s article.
