Hotlink has updated its prepaid lineup with two new “unlimited” plans, joining its existing Hotlink Unlimited and Hotlink Pantas options. If you need “unlimited” data without the restrictive 3Mbps or 6Mbps speedcap, the new Streaming and Work From Home (WFH) plans could be a better option than the current Hotlink Unlimited plans.
Unlike typical unlimited passes, the Streaming and Work From Home plans provide high-speed unlimited internet for selected apps plus extra high-speed quota for everything else. Starting from RM20/month, you get 5GB of data and unlimited usage for the selected applications in your plan. If you need more high-speed data, you can get 15GB for RM25/month and 25GB for RM40/month.
Hotlink Streaming Plan
For the Hotlink Streaming Plan, you’ll get unlimited streaming for TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, VIU, Spotify and Joox. According to Hotlink, you’ll enjoy HD streaming with high-speed internet as there’s no speed cap.
However, take note that the unlimited streaming feature for your social and video apps is only applicable from 6am to 6pm daily. After 6pm, any streaming app usage will utilise your normal all-day high-speed quota.
Besides the three monthly options, the Streaming Plan is also available for weekly and daily subscriptions. The RM10 weekly plan offers 4GB of high-speed data in additional to unlimited streaming app usage. Meanwhile, there’s also the RM3 daily plan which comes with 2GB of data as well as unlimited streaming app usage.
Hotlink WFH Plan
For those who are still working from home, Hotlink has a plan as well which provides unlimited data with no speedcap for office/productivity apps. This includes Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Google Meet, Office365, Skype, WeChat, Microsoft Outlook and OneDrive. There’s no 6am to 6pm time restriction and you can enjoy unlimited quota for WFH apps all day.
Similar to the Streaming Plan, the monthly plans start from RM20 with 5GB of high-speed data plus unlimited WFH usage, and it goes all the way up to RM40/month with 25GB of high-speed data plus unlimited WFH usage. The daily and weekly plans are similar as well at RM3/day and RM10/week respectively.
5% off for Google Play Store and Apple App Store purchases
The two new Hotlink plans also offer 5% discount for any in-app purchases on both Google Play Store or Apple App Store. The discount is given only if you pay using your Hotlink credit via Direct Carrier Billing. For example, if you have a Viu subscription, you’ll have to change the payment method to Hotlink Credit.
Voice calls are not included
The two new plans don’t come with bundled voice calls and SMS. According to the T&C, Hotlink will charge 30 sen per 60 second block, while SMS is charged at 15 sen each.
Double monthly FUP at 100GB per month
Like most “unlimited” plans, the Streaming and WFH options do come with their own Fair Usage Policy (FUP). According to the FAQ, the monthly plans come with 100GB of FUP which is double of what is currently offered on the normal Hotlink Unlimited plans. The weekly pass comes with 25GB of FUP while the daily pass comes with 5GB of FUP. After you’ve hit your FUP limit, your speed will reduce to 512kbps which Hotlink claims to be fairly good enough for standard-definition video streaming.
If you’re interested to sign up for these plans, Hotlink says they are not available on a starter pack and you’ll have to purchase it via the Hotlink App (Apple App Store, Google PlayStore, Huawei AppGallery). If you’re changing from another plan, a rate plan change fee of RM2 will apply.
