Here’s a sneak peek at Magic: The Gathering’s upcoming set, Dominaria United

If you’re a fan of trading card games, you’ve almost certainly heard of Magic: The Gathering, perhaps the first real TCG to hit it big time. I myself play Magic quite a bit, with a couple of Commander decks here and there as well as Magic: The Gathering Arena being used on any smartphone I get to review.

As such, I’m happy to say that Wizards of the Coast, the people behind Magic, have given me the chance to show off a preview card that’s coming in Magic’s next set: Jaya’s Firenado.

It’s a common sorcery card that costs four generic mana and a single red mana to cast. It deals 5 damage to target creature or planeswalker, and then lets you scry one too.

Perhaps the coolest part of the card though is its story implications. I won’t try to spoil too much, but in case you missed it, Magic is going back to Dominaria, one of its most iconic locations. We’ll be seeing some familiar faces, such as Karn, Ajani, Liliana and of course, Jaya Ballard herself. Jaya happens to be an acquaintance of Jodah, a powerful archmage, and she has a penchant for fiery tricks and spells. As you can probably tell from the flavour text (and that we already know she’s returning as planeswalker card), she’s certainly about to get herself very involved in Dominaria.

As for the art, it’s been crafted by Jeremy Wilson, who’s previously done art for cards in other Magic sets too, such as Throne of Eldraine and Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. You can find more of Wilson’s art over on his website here, or you can check out his Twitter and Instagram too.

Thanks again to Wizards for the preview card! You can head over to their website for more details about Magic: The Gathering and Dominaria United.
