Would you report a school bully to the Malaysian government? Because you can

Education Minister Datuk Dr. Radzi Jidin said that an online portal has been launched to help file complaints to the government about bullying in schools. You’re able to fill in a form in Portal Aduan Buli (or the ‘Bully Complaint Portal’), but Dr. Razdi also mentions that you can file a report through email, a phone call, or through WhatsApp.

“Police records show our children do not (realise) that bullying can damage a person not only while they are in school, but it can become a big problem in the future,” he said, “If a bullying incident happens, report it to us.”

As for why he thinks the portal is needed, Dr. Radzi said that some parents believed that “no action would be taken if their child was bullied”. He also said the ministry has told all schools not to hide bullying cases. The minister added that the people manning it will “act on the complaints” that are sent in.

Here’s how to report a school bully through the portal

  • Visit the portal’s front page
  • Click on Sistem Aduan SISPAA, which is basically just the Education Ministry’s complaint form. Alternatively, you can just click here
  • Under Jenis, choose ADUBULI
  • Write in your title, complaint, the outcome you’d want, as well as your other personal details listed in the form
  • Press Send/Hantar to send in the form

Additionally, you’re able to report your school bully through email (adubuli@moe.gov.my), through a phone call (03-88849325), or even through WhatsApp (0148009325). Phone calls will only be accepted from 8am until 5pm every weekday except public holidays—whereas WhatsApp conversations are available 24 hours a day, according to the portal.

I don’t know how effective reporting your school bully to the government will be. But if seeking help from the school doesn’t help, having this option could be helpful for victims who feel like they don’t have any other option.
