Aside from the Honor 70, Honor Malaysia has also launched the new Honor MagicBook 14 in Malaysia. These 2022 models have already been launched in China, but they’re now officially available in Malaysia too. Incidentally, it also seems that Malaysia will be getting the MagicBook 14 with discrete graphics too.
There will be two configurations of the Honor MagicBook 14 available in Malaysia, with the main difference between the two being one with integrated graphics and the other coming with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 discrete graphics card. Here’s how much they’ll cost you:
You’ll be able to get them from the 27th of August onwards, and early birds will be able to get free gifts worth up to RM1,026 too, which include a backpack, a laptop sleeve, a wireless mouse, and Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021. The MagicBook 14 will be available at Honor stores nationwide as well as the official Honor Shopee and Lazada stores.
One particularly notable design change with the new MagicBook 14 is that the display no longer comes in a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Instead, the 14-inch IPS display now comes in a 3:2 aspect ratio, similar to the likes of the Microsoft Surface Laptop and some Huawei MateBook laptops. It packs a 2160 x 1440p resolution, covers 100% of the sRGB colour gamut and has a max brightness of 300nits. There’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass over it too for scratch resistance.
Under the hood, you’ll find a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12500H processor mated to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD. Perhaps the most surprisingly part though is the inclusion of a model with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050, an entry-level graphics card that was first launched in December last year. It’s better to see it as a more capable update to the GTX 1650 cards of yesteryear, as well as being much better alternative to integrated graphics. It comes with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM, though is hampered by having much slower memory bandwidth. If you opt for the one without the RTX 2050, you’ll get Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics instead.
Elsewhere, there’s a 75Wh battery that Honor claims will be good for up to 15 hours of 1080p video playback. It also comes with a 100W SuperCharge fast charger too, that Honor says will be able to juice up the MagicBook 14 to 100% in just 80 minutes. You’ll find a pair of stereo speakers with Nahimic Audio along with a dual microphone array too, as well as a fingerprint sensor on the power button. It comes with Honor Share too, letting you link and cast your Honor smartphone to your MagicBook 14.
As for I/O, the MagicBook 14 has a HDMI 2.0 port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports as well as a 3.5mm audio jack. The laptop’s body is built out of aircraft-grade aluminum, measuring 16.9mm thick and weighing in at 1.58kg. It’ll be available in just one colourway, Space Gray.
