Aside from the Honor 70 smartphone, Honor has also introduced the Honor Pad 8 in Malaysia. This is the company’s first tablet to be introduced Malaysia since its reintroduction here last year – a budget model with mid-range specs, with the exception of the giant display for the price.
Honor Pad 8 Malaysia pricing and availability
The Pad 8 is available in just one configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s priced at RM1,399 and if you pre-order now, you’ll also get a flip cover and a 1+1-year extended warranty, together worth up to RM318. Again, you may put your orders in through the official website, Honor Stores, Lazada, Shopee, Courts, Harvey Norman, Senheng, senQ and Urban Republic.
Honor Pad 8 specs and features
The biggest feature of the Honor Pad 8 is quite literally the display – a 12-inch LCD touchscreen with slim bezels all around and a 10:6 aspect ratio, resulting in narrower black bars when watching videos. It has a 2K (2000×1200) resolution – which works out to 195ppi – and peak brightness of 350 nits. Eight speakers on the sides of the device provide stereo sound.
In order to incorporate the big screen while meeting its price point, Honor has had to cut down on specs. The Pad 8 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor and the aforementioned 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There’s also a 5MP camera both at the front and the back; the one at the front is positioned on the right of the screen, making it perfect for video calls in landscape mode.
Powering all of this is a 7,250mAh battery and supports up to 22.5W of charging. As with the Honor 70, the Pad 8 ships with Android 12 with the Magic UI 6.1 skin and Google Mobile Services built in.
The metal build of the Pad 8 is simple, with a flat front, sides and back reminiscent of the latest iPads. It measures just 6.9 mm thick, with the exception of the pill-shaped camera bump at the rear. Just one colour, Blue Hour, is being offered in Malaysia.
