Xiaomi’s independent budget brand Poco has just introduced its Poco M4 5G. This is their new entry-level 5G smartphone and it should not be confused with the Poco M4 Pro and the Poco M4 Pro 5G. Looking at the specs, the new M4 5G looks like a rehash of the Poco M3 Pro 5G from 2021.

Poco M4 5G Malaysia Specs
The Poco M4 5G features a 6.58″ Full HD+ LCD display which pushes a refresh rate of up to 90Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. Under the hood, it runs on a familiar MediaTek Dimensity 700, which is the same processor that’s found on the M3 Pro 5G. The device can be configured with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, which is expandable via microSD card up to 1TB.
In the camera department, the M4 5G gets a dual-camera setup featuring a 13MP f/2.2 main camera and a 2MP f/2.4 depth camera. This seems to be a downgrade considering the M3 Pro 5G has a triple-camera setup that includes a higher-resolution 50MP main camera. Meanwhile, the front gets a 5MP f/2.2 selfie shooter that sits on a tiny notch instead of an 8MP punch-hole camera. It is worth pointing out that the Poco M4 5G for India is getting a higher resolution camera setup with a 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.
For instant unlocking, the device gets a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and it also supports AI Face Unlock. In terms of connectivity, the Poco M4 5G supports dual 5G on standby, 802.11ac 5GHz WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC for certain markets. Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery and it supports 18W fast charging via USB-C. According to the global spec-sheet, a 22.5W power adapter is included in the box.
As you would expect from an entry-level device, the Poco M4 5G still has a 3.5mm headphone jack and it supports FM Radio. Out of the box, it runs on Android 12 with MIUI 13 for Poco. Because the screen is slightly larger than the Poco M3 Pro 5G, the new M4 5G is slightly heavier at 200g (Poco M3 Pro 5G: 190g) while maintaining a similar thickness at 8.92mm.
