Back at the start of July, Malaysian Marvel fans everywhere had to hear the bad news that Thor: Love and Thunder would be delayed from its original 7 July premiere date to 21 July. However, as it turns out Disney has decided to not only postpone Thor: Love and Thunder in Malaysia, but instead postpone it indefinitely with no new release date set for now. Both GSC and TGV made the announcement online:

Just like the last time Thor: Love and Thunder got pushed back, it seems as though the source of the indefinite postponement comes from Disney themselves, not a government body. However, judging from the updates given by the two major cinema chains, there seems to be little in terms of an official reason from Disney regarding why Thor: Love and Thunder no longer has a release date in Malaysia.
If the latest Marvel flick does end up never showing on the silver screen, it would be the second major Disney movie to skip Malaysian theatres in this year alone, following Pixar’s Lightyear. Lightyear of course skipped a number of other countries too such as Egypt and UAE, reportedly due to a scene featuring a kiss between a same-sex couple. That being said, Thor: Love and Thunder does seem to still be showing in UAE at least. In any case, chances are you’ll still be able to watch it eventually via their streaming service Disney+ Hotstar.
As for those of you who booked tickets in anticipation of getting to see Chris Hemsworth’s, uhm, bare glutes, neither GSC nor TGV gave an update on refunds this time but you’ll likely still be able to follow their advice from the first time it got postponed; if you purchased tickets online, you’ll automatically be refunded in 14 working days. For those who purchased them from a counter or e-kiosk, you’ll need to return to the cinema and claim a refund within two weeks.
